How To Make A Gift
Thank you for considering how you can support the 130 East High … Our Legacy campaign!
Gifts may be spread out over a period of up to five (5) years and the opportunity to name a room or portion of the house, either in your own name or in honor/memory of another, is available through leadership gifts. All graduates, parents and friends who contribute $1000 or more to the campaign will have their name included on a plaque in the Chapter house. For individuals, families or pledge classes who are interested in recognizing a Brother who has passed, we offer the possibility of making a Memorial gift in his honor.
Gifts to this effort will be directed to one of two entities. Those making gifts of $25,000 or more may direct their gift to the Phi Gamma Delta Educational Foundation. All other gifts will be directed to the Mu Upsilon Association.
Why are only gifts of $25,000 or more eligible to be directed to the Phi Gamma Delta Educational Foundation? We are participating in the Foundation’s Chapter House Educational Fund (CHEF) Program, which provides grants to House Corporations for the construction, renovation or ongoing, annual maintenance of qualifying educational space in a chapter house, its furnishings, and equipment. Consequently, the amount we are able to have directed to the Foundation depends on the percentage of our home that is, as the program description indicates, “qualifying educational space.” Approximately 23% of 130 East High is designated as “qualifying educational space,” so we can seek an annual grant from the Foundation of up to 23% of the expenses associated with the maintenance and upkeep of the facility each year. A wonderful advantage of this CHEF program is that it essentially provides a long-term way for us to ensure that part of the annual maintenance and upkeep needs of the home are met – it is one of the ways that we are building a legacy for Mu Upsilon!
However, because of the limitation on the amount of annual support that the Foundation can provide to Mu Upsilon, gifts made to the CHEF cannot be used to address the immediate and pressing needs that exist – and that we know will emerge in the next few years, as our infrastructure ages. So, in an effort to encourage leadership giving, the campaign policy is that gifts of $25,000 or more may be directed to the CHEF, while all others will be directed to the Mu Upsilon Association. These gifts provide the flexibility and latitude to address pressing needs as they arise without having to wait for a yearly distribution from the Foundation.
