Mu Upsilon Chartering

From the archives of Phi Gamma Delta, the article below shares the story of Mu Upsilon’s September 28, 1957 chartering ceremony. A banner day in the history of Mu Upsilon!

Of the many impressive facts in this article, the one that perhaps stands out to us today is the fact that Mu Upsilon was one of the very few chapters in Phi Gamma Delta history to receive a house upon the chapter’s chartering. As there were no Mu Upsilon graduates yet, a group of 9 brothers from around Ohio – brothers from other chapters – each contributed at least $1,500 each for a total of $18,000, which was used as down payment on our home, the old “Dr. Munns house.” We are the grateful beneficiaries of their legacy, and our hope is that we, too, can leave a legacy for Mu Upsilon that is as long-lasting and influential as that given to us in 1957 by these generous brothers.
